Community Capacity Building
UJAMAA organizes education and business training opportunities for residents and association members through strategic partnerships. Our flagship partnership with University of New Orleans created the Community Development Finance Course, a certificated program in real estate development for which the New Orleans Business Alliance provides twenty community scholarships.
We are convening partners in the Own the Crescent program, which was recently awarded $1M by JP Morgan Chase to provide pathways to affordable home ownership in the Tremé, Seventh Ward, and St. Roch Neighborhoods, where residents are facing aggressive displacement.
We work with stellar partners such as LaunchNOLA, HousingNOLA, Good Work Network, Neighborhood Development Foundation, and Empower Your Centsto provide business training, financial literacy and asset building, homebuyers and landlord training. We are also proud to have a partnership with a CDFI Consortiumthat provides access to capital for our residents and businesses who have traditionally been excluded.
